Add Sentence takes you to the sentence it made, and Save Now stays where you clicked it
20260908
The app now fits a phone screen: the project bar and account controls fold into menus on narrow screens instead of the page being zoomed out.
20260906.2
Backend database migration for users and projects.
20260906
A passage now shows all of its sentences on one page, with links to jump to either end; long sentences scroll sideways instead of wrapping. The dictionary builds several times faster on large projects, shows its progress, and no longer freezes the tab while it works. On the projects and passages lists, click a row to open it; renaming, saving to your computer and deleting have moved into a menu on each row, and projects can now be renamed.
20260904.2
The app's data layer has been rewritten to talk to the new backend directly, with general performance and correctness fixes along the way. If something behaves differently than it used to, please report it.
20260901
A higher-fidelity LaTeX export. The old one frequently produced LaTeX that would not compile; the new one is far more likely to build, and can render the phonetic line either as tipa notation or as Unicode characters for XeLaTeX. The previous export remains available for one release from the export dialog. Loading a project from a file now creates a project on the server, so it can be shared. Browser-only local projects have been retired. The projects list is now grouped into shared projects — those with collaborators — and private ones.
20260824
Click outside a dialog to close it. Readers no longer see buttons the database would refuse them. Word search stays responsive on large projects.
20260822c
Fixes the alignment of the interlinear word grid: editable cells are now the same height as read-only cells, and the track-name column lines up with its words — most visible in Word Search, where rows were noticeably too tall. Also fixes a caching problem that could leave a browser on an older version of the app after an update shipped; updates now take effect on the next load.
20260822
Links to the old twisted-tongues-beta.appspot.com address now forward to app.twisted-tongues.com, deep links into projects included, so old bookmarks and invite emails keep working. Saving a project to your computer now includes its templates, which were silently dropped before; files saved by older versions still load. Tabs left open no longer raise "unknown error" messages hours after you last looked at them, and the app is lighter and faster to load.
20260821
Fixed a database overload that could surface as 'unknown error' messages during normal use.
20260820c
A new "Bug or feedback" link in the header, and in error messages, opens a pre-addressed e-mail to the developers. The old "Online" indicator, which no longer reported anything real, has been removed. Logged-in sessions now also record anonymous counts of which features are used, kept for 30 days, so we can tell what is worth improving.
20260820
Dialogs, dropdowns and tooltips are rebuilt on simpler foundations, plus assorted bugfixes.
20260819
Minor improvements while preparing for a database backend migration: live updates recover automatically after a dropped connection, cloned projects keep their templates, local projects get a Templates page, and assorted fixes to dialogs and error handling.
20260817
Email notifications for project invites
20260726
New projects are pre-loaded with a Default template (IPA, Gloss, Translation, Notes)
20250204
Fixed `Add Passage` bug ("Already Querying!")
20241205
Bugfix: you can now open links without being logged in (prompts you to login, then forwards you to the original link)
20241012
Rewrote server in python 3 (python 2 was deprecated). Login flow rewritten as well as project creation / sharing.
